We wish to inform you of an important change regarding lease termination notices for significant renovations or repairs.
From 20 June 2025, landlords are no longer required to provide a written quote, contract, or owner-builder permit with a termination notice for significant renovations or repairs. Instead, only a signed and dated written statement from the landlord is needed, which states why the renovations or repairs are significant, why vacant possession is required and the proposed commencement date of the works.
This change has been introduced by the Residential Tenancies Amendment (Termination Notice for Significant Renovations or Repairs) Regulation 2025 (NSW).
